Live and digital engagement with the visual arts

The cluster of innovations brought about by information and communication technology (ICT) is dramatically changing the ways in which visual arts can be produced consumed. By using USA 2012 Survey Public Participation Arts, we explore consumption through both onsite attendance at museums electronic digital media. To disentangle complexity relationship different forms attendance, a multinomial logit recursive bivariate probit model are estimated to obtain direct indirect effects alternative participation. Results demonstrate that there no age consumer differences form they consume arts. Noticeable concern race, gender, families with children attending school, type occupation. In addition, results show trade-off between online visits. Visiting art galleries have positive correlation access arts, handheld mobile devices via internet, whilst same not found for internet on museum attendance. This means many consumers, only way overcome time constraints other costs involved an visit.
